I am passionate about reconnecting Lenca ancestral heritage to living heirs and working with museums to give a better context to Lenca Archaic and misfit Mesoamerican collections.
Current consulting includes community research into Lenca history and oral narrative as Community Curator with the Science Museum of Minnesota. I am also thrilled to have been able to connect Maya Lenca Nation with the collection and journals of Samuel K. Lothrop housed at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian. In October 2022 I presented at ATALM (Association of Tribal Libraries Archives & Museum) conference in Temecula, CA, "Decolonization, Deaccessions, & Dark Markets: When NAGPRA (& Sorry) Aren't Enough" about current challenges of reuniting with archeological objects and contextual updates of museum databases that often contain misattributed Lenca heritage items and burials.
